LoginCall of Duty: Black Ops 6 is officially coming in November, bringing a host of new multiplayer improvements for fans to chew on. There are plenty of other new toys coming to Black Ops 6 with several fan favorite features that were absent in previous iterations, including round-based zombies and a more traditional perk system. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 devs confirm that there will be a big change in sniper rifles, making them significantly different from Modern Warfare 3. What it essentially does is match similarly skilled Call of Duty players together based on an invisible number assigned to players that changes with their performance. Playing even just one afternoon of a Call of Duty game will result in at least a dozen matches with one team completely and hopelessly outgunned. Some players feel that it unfairly penalizes them for above-average performance. One stellar match causes their MMR to rise, placing them into much, much harder games for an indeterminate amount of time. This is one of the more common issues with SBMMs in general, and past Call of Duty games are no exception to this, as one or two good games can get a better-than-average player in over their head. This would, of course, result in horribly mismatched games more often, but it would also mean that players are more likely to have more of those overwhelming victories.

The launch of Black Ops 6 is slowly moving into view and ahead of COD Next and the beta, fans are wondering if Activision plans to stick with its existing philosophy or take a different path that could involve removing SBMM altogether. Even though the question gets asked a lot, Activision never addresses it directly. This matchmaking tendency will be present in every multiplayer mode the game has to offer, even casual playlists. This is a widely known term in the industry used for those games with a matchmaking system that considers skill when creating a lobby.
