LoginAs we wind down another summer season, grilling season is still in full bloom. Gas grills are center stage dishing out burgers, dogs, and smiles. But all grillers know one thing can bring the fun to a halt: running out of propane! It always has plenty of gas. The practice is neither safe nor cost-effective for home grilling. A separate propane grill tank is safer. Keep your grill portable. Adjustments to your propane connections should only be made by a licensed professional. An insecure connection can lead to a propane gas leak and compromise your safety. Now, imagine your grill tank is connected to your home supply.
First, make sure your grill is safely positioned away from any flammable material and that the grill cover is completely open. If you have an empty propane cylinder in place, remove it now. Double-check that the propane tank hand wheel is turned to the OFF position before you proceed with hooking up the tank.
Disclaimer: You really should consult a certified gas fitter for this type of project. Be sure to check all local building codes prior to attempting a project of this nature. Connecting your propane gas grill to your house propane supply is a great way to ensure you can cook dinner anytime without running out of gas. This can be a fairly straight forward home improvement project if you have an accessible gas line near the grill. In my case I had the plumbers run a gas line outside just under the deck when we built the house. They ran the gas line outside and left it with a shut-off valve so that I could connect it to my grill.
Smart decision — propane is a versatile, safe and cost-effective energy source. And preparing for your installation is quick and easy. Our experts have created the following preparation checklist to help make the process of installing your propane tank smooth and seamless.
