LoginBut for the most part, moving too fast in a relationship and relying on sudden infatuation is an experience that ends as quickly as it began — and often with a bump. A codependent personality means you take your sense of self worth from pleasing others. Your need to be liked will drive you headlong into relationships. The flip side of codependency, counterdependency means you fear real intimacy. While it might sound like a counterdependent would be the least likely to rush into love, it will be very intense codependent types who can convince you to give love a whirl in the first place. In their need to have you trust them, codependents can manipulate things into going very fast. And when, as a counterdependent, you finally decide to open up? Moved too fast, how to slow it down? After a few weeks of great emails and phone calls, we travelled to the same city to meet in person, had a wonderful time and had sex. I was overwhelmed with what had happened, am not used to sex without commitment, and when I got home got carried away and emailed him to say I had decided to stop communicating with other men on eHarmony. He emailed back to say he appreciated that and that he had a wonderful time with me but he didn't say he would stop communicating with other women. And yes, I do think it's far, far too soon to expect that. Now in the light of day, I feel like I have moved too fast and would like to take back what I said about not communicating with other men, mostly because I feel like it would be better for my emotional stability not to put all my eggs in one basket quite yet, and because I also find some of my other matches interesting. Can I do this and if so what should I say to him?
The dating process may not be exactly the same for every couple, but a healthy one, or a healthy dating timeline looks something like this in the span of a few months:. If a you feel like their dating partner is taking a long time to get through each step or each step is rushed or even skipped, then they may be in an unhealthy dating timeline. For example, an unhealthy timeline may look like this in the span of a couple weeks:. If the you find yourself being the one to rush the process or take it much slower than their partner prefers, you may also be in an unhealthy dating timeline. A dating timeline is a timeline of events dating partners will go through from their first connection to a committed relationship.
Like relationships in real life, online relationships can also move way too fast. And you should get to know them, before you meet in real life. Reducing the speed at which you barrel toward love, marriage, and mortgage, actually makes dating more fun.
