Hello, I moved to Reims this past September and looking for other English speakers to meet and maybe become friends. The champagne tour continues to the much larger city of Reims with a few nights at the Hotel de la Paix. The hotel was spacious and rather busy, complete without parking available. The room, however, felt new and clean even if the color choices were weird ones. Always appreciative of a robe and slippers, the hotel had both, including cork-bottomed slippers. The bedroom and bathroom had functioning windows, even eight stories up! The ninety degree angle still allowed you a peek into the shower from the bedroom- so funny!

Reims: Birthplace of Champagne

The harvest in Champagne looks to be of high quality. How will it evolve? We will have to wait until April and the assemblages to ascertain the true potential. Ripe, healthy fruit picked at a relatively high level of maturity seems to have been pretty well the norm across the appellation. Last, but not least, was the cool, autumnal weather which arrived first week of September allowing us to pick, press and work the juices at an ideal low temperature to protect the juices against oxidation and loss of aromas.
