LoginWe had a bit of controversy in our Dating Kinda Sucks Facebook group the other dayyyyy…. You see, what had happened was that a member posted some screenshots of his dating profile for critique and review by our members. Overall, the opinions were pretty similar, except for one exception: one of the nine photos had a photo of him in a Halloween costume with a girl in a bunny costume. The other eight photos showed him being goofy, having fun, and demonstrated a wide range of activities and interests. Everyone in the group loved his photos except for the one with the girl. Almost every single woman with a few notable exceptions took issue with the photo. And OK Cupid backed this up by saying they found the most effective photos for men, were those when they were looking away from the lens. That said, your main profile photo should have you smiling and looking into the lens so that you come across as engaging.

So, to guide you into curating the best profile possible, we asked some experts, including photographers who make their money taking good Tinder pictures for other people, a dating coach who has worked with thousands of men, a sex worker who makes his money selling good photos, and someone who once held the title of most swiped-right man on Tinder, about how to nail your dating app photos. Neither of those options is going to win you a date. Professional photographer Charlie Grosso also says that you should never include a photo with more than four people in it. None of these images offer an entry point for conversation.
