LoginI get the drug interpretation, but that's not how I interpret this song. She's sick of her life, she's bored, in a rut. She wants to embrace being out of her element for a little while because she's sick of feeling trapped. She doesn't care where she goes, what she does, or who she's with, she just wants excitement. I reckon this song takes a bit of getting used to, since its pretty different from the veronicas old cd, but once ya listen to it a few times its actually pretty good. And one of them has dyed their hair blonde.. Pretty cool, can't wait for the whole new album -hayles-. Just think its about breaking away, from the monotony of life and starting fresh. Maybe through the help of a guy.

The Veronicas—identical twins Lisa and Jessica Origliasso—were flying high after their debut, The Secret Life Of…, which established them as one of Australia's leading teen-pop acts of the s. For its follow-up, the duo relocated to Los Angeles, where they worked with top songwriters in pop Madonna collaborator Billy Steinberg and mainstream emo John Feldmann, who had recently collaborated with Hilary Duff and Good Charlotte to write peppy, tart songs about love and revenge. Using slashing guitars and chilly synths to drive home The Veronicas' evolution into glammed-up rockers, Hook Me Up balances vulnerability with brashness in thrilling ways; the expansive ballad "In Another Life" builds to a bridge where Jess' teary sniffling can be heard in the background, while the punchy chorus of the glossy, determined "This Love" co-written by a pre-fame Kesha resolves itself with a resigned sigh and a look back at futile attempts to keep up a romantic connection. Hook Me Up spawned multiple hits at home and overseas, including the speedy "Untouched" and the darkly hued "Take Me On the Floor", and its nervy approach to expanding The Veronicas' sound set up their progression in later years, when they would experiment more with synth-based, dance-music-inspired songs.
Hook Me Up is the second studio album by Australian duo the Veronicas , which was released on 3 November see in music by Sire Records. The album was mainly written and recorded in the girls' home in Los Angeles with German songwriter Toby Gad. Jessica Origliasso states "It was really great. Toby works on a simplified set-up on his Mac computer. It takes all the pressure out of being in a recording studio.
