LoginA RF modulator is an electronic piece of equipment that provides a baseband signal which is used to transform a radio frequency resource. RF modulators are used to alter signals from devices such as VCRs, DVD players, media players, and game consoles to a format that can be handled by a device designed to receive a modulated RF input, for example, radio and television receivers. There are many RF modulators available, but all function in a similar manner. These devices have numerous audio and video inputs and one RF output. The modulator is then programmed to transmit the signals on a certain channel. The RF signal is then received by the connected TV.
These old analog TV sets have only one way to get an audio video source device signal in to the TV and you can only use a coaxial cable, not RCA cables. This is what the RF modulator does. It converts the RCA type connection yellow video and white and red audio to a coaxial cable connection and outputs to channel 3 or 4 so the older TV can tune in to the video and audio. Then there are video switchers with a RF modulator.

The Panasonic has only one coaxial input. Presently, the TV is the only component connected to the set top box. I'm told that I need to use an RF modulator, but I'm not sure how I would connect the various components using coaxial and composite audio cables. Can someone enlighten me as to what I would connect to what or whether this is even possible? Go to Correct Answer.
