These are shows that merely give you life of a bigger girl. I mean, look at this picture above. I was made for this! Although they have two VERY different casts, they all base around plus size women, dating, and life. You can read my thoughts on both shows below. I think there are some awesome similarities. We both have PCOS, are outgoing, live life no matter or size, and are absolutely hilarious. Her NoBodyShame mantra is something I love and you can tell the show is very big on acceptance, but also change.

Moving through this world as any marginalized person is tough, and in spaces like dating and fashion, it becomes tougher. Doing both at the same time, unfortunately, can call for you to have a thick skin. You wonder if the brand and the babe are fetishizing you. The new Netflix show Survival of the Thickest , premiering on July 13 and starring the phenomenal human Michelle Buteau , shows main character Mavis moving through both worlds. Buteau brings her signature wit and humor to the series, making us laugh while also highlighting the very real challenges fat and Black women face in the dating and fashion worlds.
