Would You Take a Dating Sabbatical?

Every other day on the internet, a new term to describe the intricacies, nuances, and mishaps of our single and not-so-single lives emerges. I had just heard of the phrase in October when a good friend sent a screenshot of the rules for a heart sabbatical to our group chat. After his grand gesture of flying out to see me and wine and dine me in my city, I went against my gut and gave in. We ended up spending a month together over the summer in his city. It was weird at first because this was just my friend, yet slowly but surely, he broke out of the friend zone. So one night, I asked him if he was seeing other people, and he confirmed he was seeing one other person. I played it cool at first, but after going home and thinking about how this man put in so much effort to convince me to date him, I was frustrated. I thought he was only focused on me. After my last relationship ended, I dated but never found someone equally interested in something serious. Eventually, I went back home.

Dating Yourself

This is the third blog in a series by single woman sharing the story of her goal to go on 40 dates in one year. No pressure. When my friend and I arrived to our much anticipated speed dating event, the host greeted us with a smile and sat us each at our own table.
