The advent of social media and online dating brings with it some dating dilemmas that our parents never had. Here's our top 5. Once upon a time our dating pool was mostly restricted to the small selection of potential dates around the office, friend's often slightly dodgy single pals, or even worse Our choices were based on a kind smile, a coy look, or a knowing glance or invite. Nevertheless, there was the assumption that you had some background information on your potential partner to get you started. Dating wasn't a plunge into the complete unknown with no point of reference to get you started.
It was funny to watch this fad play out — Singaporeans even put their own spin on it by asking their partners to peel prawns instead. But it also makes one wonder how much weight we're putting on these touted ideals when we put our phones down. Having grown up in the digital age, I've always been drawn to social media for guidance on everything from career to food, and relationships. With just a tap or scroll, we can easily access bite-sized advice tailored to our specific concerns.
