LoginIn college, finding people to date is fairly simple and straightforward. Life — and dating — after college is a different experience in many ways. Getting involved in social scenes requires more effort because you have to go out and search for the community, people, and places you want to be involved with. In addition, it may be your first time holding down a full-time job, coupled with more financial and life responsibilities. And all of this is okay! Here are some of my best tips on navigating dating after college that have helped my clients. Post-college dating comes with a different set of challenges and freedoms.
Back in November, my lovely friend Chase wrote an article all about dating apps. Dating apps really do suck, especially in small college towns like Athens. I have tried out all of the dating apps, and it is safe to say the same people are on all of them. Not my cup of tea. Then, in my experience, you see the people everywhere after you see them on the dating app. But dating apps are not the worst part of college dating. If that works for you that is great, however, as someone who is a chronic overthinker, it does not work for me.
College dating is the set of behaviors and phenomena centered on the seeking out and the maintenance of romantic relationships in a university setting. It has unique properties that only occur, or occur most frequently, in a campus setting.
