While it is true that you often see football players and cheerleaders dating at the high school and college level — and even some adorable on-the-field proposals! Cheerleaders are on the sidelines for other sports as well! They do date football players, but they also date other sports athletes! They understand the demands, the pressure, the commitment. A committed athlete will have to date someone that understands that social sacrifices that will have to be made. Though cheerleading is considered a female sport, there are actually a lot of male cheerleaders. Since a co-ed cheer squad spends so much of their time together, it is more likely for a cheerleader to be dating one of their male teammates than to be dating a football player! All we do is just stare at them dancing, think 'oh they dance good, look good, typical cheerleaders' and move on without a thought as to what really goes behind the scenes of an NFL cheerleader. Mythbusted: Cheerleaders Only Date Football Players

Signing up for high school cheerleading is about supporting the football players and cheering at their games. Yes the cheerleaders have competitions, but no that is not what highschool cheer is about especially at WHS. The trophy comment bothers me because most of these victories were won costume only 1 or 2 other teams. The athleticism of the cheerleaders does not compare to that of the porkers or the football team, but of course cheerleaders think they are better than them. I for one appreciate the points made and perspective provided by the author.
